I Love Food! For as far back as I can remember, eating for me has always been an experience. Each dish, each ingredient, each morsel of food on my tongue ignites wonderment, intrigue, and an insatiable need to dissect flavor profiles, and fuse them together to create a food experience that is new and fresh, yet authentic and timeless.
My mom, Clara Cunningham, was my first teacher. She taught me how to first respect the kitchen, each tool, and each ingredient. One dish at a time, she instilled in me the traditions and flavors that were passed down from mother to child over generations. My mom built in me a solid culinary foundation, the love of traditional flavors, and a desire to feed the world.
“You never leave anyone hungry.” - Clara Cunningham
My mother was a mother of the Frankfort community. When people had nowhere to go or no one to turn to, my mother stepped up to help anyone in need. She did not hesitate, dwell on her resources, or turn anyone away.
I can remember my mom letting people stay in our spare room until they could get on their feet. A household of four (mom, my older sister, Tennielle, and the twins, my twin Tessa and me), turned to six after my cousins Kathy and Mary moved with us following the passing of their mother and my mom’s sister, Babe.
Always, she did what she had to do. She always had food on the table, a roof over our heads, and love for us all. She believed that if you had nothing else to help anyone, you could always stand to provide a meal, love and support.
I, Chef Tisa Conway-Cunningham along with my wife, Krystal Conway-Cunningham am proud to share our restaurant, Minnie’s Place, with you. We are located at 400 Evergreen road in Frankfort, Ky. It will be located inside The Evergreen Kitchen’s Southern Cafe and Gathering Places’ community kitchen.
It is truly a treat to be invited to start up our restaurant in a kitchen that I have come to see as my home away from home. As the community kitchen grows, we are excited about the possibilities to learn and grow alongside some amazing businesses. We look forward to serving the Frankfort community, and those who may visit in passing. Everyone is welcome, and we look forward to sharing our gifts with everyone.
Visit us on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 pm during The Evergreen Southern Kitchen and Gathering Place's Saturday Morning Market. Please go to @evergreenfrankfort on Facebook for more information about the Saturday Morning Market, vendors, products, and weekly menus.
